What comes in a pack of Lock Laces®?
Each package contains 2 48" elastic shoelaces, 2 lock devices, and 2 cord clips. The lock device is the piece that has “LOCK LACES®” printed on it.
How many packs of Lock Laces® do I need for one pair of shoes?
1 pack of Lock Laces® is suitable for lacing up 1 pair of shoes.
Once I’ve installed Lock Laces® in my shoes, how do they work?
Great question. Lock Laces® are designed to turn any shoe into a slip-on. Because the laces are elastic, you can simply remove your foot from the shoe without moving the lock, and the elasticity of the shoelaces will prevent any damage to the heel of your shoe. You can also press down on the top of the lock device and pull it towards the toe of your shoe to loosen the device.
Will Lock Laces® fit through the eyelets in my shoes?
Most likely, yes. Over the years, we have only encountered a few shoes that have eyelets that are too narrow for Lock Laces®. If you find that the laces will not fit through your shoes, just contact us and we will do our best to resolve the issue.
How long/thick are the elastic laces?
The Lock Laces® elastic shoelaces are 48" in length, .25cm in diameter, and can stretch up to 72". They are slim enough to fit through the eyelets of nearly any shoe, and they are long enough to lace up nearly any shoe (with the exception of some tall work boots and high-top sneakers).
Will Lock Laces® work in my boots or high-top sneakers?
Our 72" Boot Laces definitely will, and our 48” original laces might. All of our laces are heavy-duty and water-resistant.
Will Lock Laces® work in kids’ shoes?
Yes! Because of our trim-to-fit design, Lock Laces® are one-size-fits-all for both children and adults. For help with installation, please see our instructional guide here.
Busy moms love Lock Laces®, because they don’t have to pause their daily routine to tie rogue shoelaces, the laces stay clean and off the ground, and their kids don’t complain about wearing lame Velcro shoes! Lock Laces® also help foster independence in kids with autism and other conditions that impair fine motor skills.
Can I reuse Lock Laces® in another pair of shoes?
Short answer: Not really.
Our one-size-fits-all, trim-to-fit design makes it hard to remove and reinstall on another pair of shoes for a couple reasons: after trimming, the laces no longer have the plastic aglets to thread through your shoe's eyelets, and the laces may no longer be long enough to fit another shoe. This was one compromise that we had to make in designing our lacing system, and we hope you’ll understand. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
How do I clean my Lock Laces®?
Lock Laces® are machine washable, so you can wash them just like you would normally wash your shoes. For particularly dirty laces, we recommend using liquid laundry detergent and a small scrub brush. To dry, simply place your shoes somewhere safe to air-dry.
I have arthritis. Will I be able to use Lock Laces®?
Yes, Lock Laces® are perfect for people with arthritis. After initial installation*, you can treat your shoes like slip-ons, and the lock device will keep your laces at the perfect tension. You can learn more about Lock Laces® for seniors here.

I am an amputee/had a stroke. Can I use Lock Laces® with one hand?
Yes, Lock Laces® accommodate users who can only use one hand. After initial installation*, you can treat your shoes like slip-ons, and the lock device will keep your laces at the perfect tension.

Can Lock Laces® be readjusted after initial installation?
Yes, the laces can always be made tighter. For this reason, we recommend initially installing the laces slightly looser than you might think, and then using the lock device to pull the laces to a snugger fit when desired. We always recommend cutting the laces 2-3 inches below the lock device to give yourself room to loosen them.

Do Lock Laces® come in a solid color (without the specks)?
Yes, All of our dress styles are solid colors. Our boot laces come in tan and black as well which also don't have the tracers (specks).
Where are Lock Laces® made?
Lock Laces® are manufactured in Taiwan.
I can’t find a color option to match my shoes. What should I do?

My cord clip came closed prior to installation or popped off after installation. Is there a way to reopen it?
Yes! The Cord Clip, or “end piece”, can easily be popped back open and reinstalled.

How do I open my package of Lock Laces®?
The packaging has a resealable ziplock at the top, like a sandwich bag. You don’t have to cut or tear the packaging! Our more eco-friendly customers reuse the packaging to store small items around the house, like screws or thumbtacks.
Do you sell the old “bell shaped” cord clip?
You must be a Lock Laces® veteran! Unfortunately, we no longer carry the old bell-shaped cord clip. If you’re having problems with your cord clip, check out our post on reopening and reinstalling the cord clip

I lost a piece from my package. Can I buy any of the components separately?
No, we don’t sell the lock device, cord clip or laces separately.
However, we do understand that the small pieces can be easy to misplace prior to installation. If you’ve lost a piece from your packaging, just contact us, and we’ll be happy to replace it for you.
One of my packages is missing a piece. Can you send me a replacement piece?
Absolutely. Our Quality Assurance team works hard to make sure that every pack contains all of the contents, but mistakes do happen from time to time. Just contact us and we’ll be happy to send out a replacement for you.

We always recommend installing your laces with your feet in the shoes and cutting the excess lace 2-3 inches below the lock to ensure a proper fit. But mistakes happen! Just contact our Customer Service team, and we’ll do everything we can to get your shoes fitting comfortably.

How much excess lace should I leave when I trim my laces to fit?
We recommend 2-3 inches below the lock for tennis shoes and 4-6 inches for boots. See our complete installation instructions here.

How do you keep the Cord Clip (end piece) from flopping around?
After installation, we like to tuck the cord clip under one of the laces going across the shoe. This will keep them from bouncing around.

How will my order be shipped?
We ship all orders for general customers via USPS First Class or Priority Mail.
For our business customers, we ship orders via UPS.
How long will it take to get my order?
For domestic orders, we generally say to allow 3-5 business days for arrival via US First Class Mail from the time the order is shipped. Orders ship within 24 hours from the time they are placed Monday through Friday.
You will receive an email with your tracking information after you place your order.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide using USPS First Class Mail/International Parcel Service. Please allow 14 business days for arrival due to customs regulations. Shipping duties are not included in the cost of the shipping, they are paid upon delivery depending on what country you reside in.
How much do you charge for international shipping?
Our online ordering system allows you to accurately obtain shipping costs from the Cart page. Simply place the items you intend to purchase in your cart, and click "Estimate Shipping". Items are shipped via US First Class Mail/International Parcel Service.
I haven’t received my Lock Laces®. Where is my order?
You should have received an email with a tracking number when your order shipped out. For domestic orders, please allow up to 5 business days after your order shipped to receive your Lock Laces®. For international orders, please allow up to 7-21 business days. If your order has taken longer than expected, please contact us and we’ll do our best to resolve the issue.
